Manuel Rezendes Obituary

REZENDES, MANUEL S. (MANNY), age 70 of Johnston, RI and Stuart, Florida died Saturday after a brief but courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer. He was the beloved husband of Winifred (Scott) Rezendes for 33 years. Born in Providence, a son of the late Manuel and Camille (Lapinski) Rezendes. He worked as a Lieutenant Correctional Officer at the Adult Correctional Institution in Cranston for over 25 years. After retirement, he and his wife spent several years touring around the country full time in an RV, visiting national parks, landmarks and making many more memories and some lifetime friends. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters; Lorena Dodge of Cranston, Holly Silva of Bristol, and two stepsons, Peter Scott of Warwick and Paul Scott of Stuart, Florida. In addition, he was a loving "Poppa" to 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren whom he adored and spent as much time as possible with when not off on another travelling adventure. He was a proud member of the Warwick Fraternal Order of Police and a longtime member of the Highland Rod and Gun Club, where he spent many hours of enjoyment. He had a lifelong love of camping, hunting and fishing, including his children and grandchildren whenever possible on various trips within New England and especially at Charlestown Breachway. Visitation and memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 8 at Winfield & Sons Funeral Home, 571 West Greenville Road, North Scituate, RI at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Nursing Placement Inc, 334 East Ave., Pawtucket, RI 02860.

Manny (Bub) was my Lieutenant, when I worked at the ACI. We became life long friends, and shared many fishing and hunting trips. Words can't express what a kind guy he was. Manny, you were a true friend. I will miss you. May your family find peace in knowing how fond you were thought of, by so many people.
