Michael McCabe

McCABE, MICHAEL D., SR., 48, of Warwick, died April 1, 2012 at home. He was the beloved husband of his high school sweetheart, Laura (Beadles) McCabe and the deeply devoted father to their two sons, Michael D. McCabe Jr. and Matthew T. McCabe. He was the cherished son of John F. and Margaret A. (Leary) McCabe. He is also survived by two brothers and five sisters; Jack McCabe of West Kingston and Austin, TX, Rosemary Geoghegan of Warwick, Elizabeth Taylor of Keswick, VA and Jamestown, Kathleen Blank of Middletown and Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Patrick McCabe of Exeter, Margaret Dobbing of Narragansett, and Maura Baudouin of Monroe, CT and Middletown, RI. He was the loving brother of the late Kevin McCabe of Tampa, FL. He will be lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews as the "fun uncle," who never tired of entertaining them and making them laugh. In addition to family, he will be missed by many friends. Michael was a graduate of Pilgrim High School and resided in Warwick most of his life. Many will remember him as the tall, gregarious red-head who loved playing basketball and in his youth was famous for making pizzas at Little John's. He was employed by Rhode Island Sheet Metal as an HVAC installer. He was known throughout his life as a dedicated and hard worker. Michael most enjoyed attending his sons' academic and sporting events. He loved being a father to his two boys and was extremely proud of his sons' accomplishments. Michael had hair like sunshine and a heart of gold, always the first to assist someone in need. Michael had been educating himself about methods of interaction with autistic children in order to enhance his bond with a special nephew. He was the comedian of the family, who brought boundless energy and endless laughter to every gathering. His happy-go-lucky presence will be deeply missed. His funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 10, at 9 a.m. from the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Peter Church, 350 Fair Street, Warwick.
