"Ms Green" was such an awesome teacher and person. I remember way back in the 70s, we would go to her class after school to just chit chat. She was so understanding. An asset to the Central Falls school system.

I am so sorry to learn of Nadine's death. Nadine hosted several Fresh Air children for years, she was so lovely and kind to the children she shared her home with through the program. She had infinite patience and was always willing to assist. She was an elequent spokeswoman. I shall miss her very much. My prayers are with her family.

Ms. Greene had a way of challenging her students. She had high expectations and would not lower them. Your only option was to rise to them. I often reflect back on my high school years with fondness and admiration. As a teacher in Central Falls, I now realize how Ms. Greene's teaching philosophies and techinques were years ahead of their time. No one can deny her love for language, literature, and children. I'm sure she has inspired many students to become teachers. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.

To Richard, Jimmy, and Nadine's family,

We are so very saddened to hear of Nadine's passing. We became friendly with Nadine when we moved to Providence, and she cared for our Cameron, first as a toddler at the JCC, then later in her own home on a weekly basis. "My-deen" is what he first called her, so youthfully and so fondly. We fell out of touch somewhat when we moved back to western Massachusetts, but we recently returned to Rhode Island, and I did speak to Nadine by phone a few weeks ago.
Nadine made a very indelible, positive, lasting impression on all of us. Cameron, now 10, remembers many happy times with Nadine. I remember being a young working mother, feeling blessed to have someone with such wisdom and kindness to care for my child.
Nadine is forever with us.
A word of note: I have recently become a teacher of reading, a choice not unrelated to Nadine's love of literature.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

Although we knew her for only a short time, Nadine was one of the kindest, bravest and most unselfish people I have ever met.

I remember when, shortly before her first surgery in New York, she and Jim ran into me and my elderly parents at Greggs in Warwick. My mom had been in the hospital recently.

She immediately went up to my mother, took her hand, and asked how she was and never once mentioned her own problems.

I don't know if I would have the strength and dignity to face adversity as she did.

Our deepest sympathy to her husband and family, Jim, my best friend Sana, and Bernie.

When Nadine came to Central Falls High School in 1971 with her classical education and "New Yorker" flair, a profound love of literature, a deep interest in the arts and travel, she brought a perspective that was new and exciting to her classroom. She no difficulty in inspiring the students who came to know her. The yearbook was dedicated to her that year. For the next three decades her wise counsel was sought by many. Later as English Department chair, she mentored many novice teachers in the ways of a well organized lesson plan. She was an essential part of the fabric that made our high school a special place. She will be truly missed.

These words were read today at Nadine's graveside funeral:

I need to say a few words before Nieca is layed to rest.

Nieca and I adored each other. We were able to love each other fully. It gave great meaning to our lives. I always had a desire to be a better person with her and to love her more fully. It was our blessing that this was allowed to happen. It changed who I was as a person. It allowed me to become a better fuller, human being.

She taught me to see the good in people. She reminded me that if all I see is something negative in everyone (their shortcommings), I will be alone. There will be nothing and no one to love. She also helped to remind me that, we all have limitations but there is something good to love within everyone.

Nieca fought a long and involved battle to stay alive and functional. I thank her, for her struggle and fortitude. This allowed us over three more years--of loving one another. I thank all those who helped with their love and support.

Now she can rest in peace. Her love, which touched many hearts, will go on living within us.

Farwell darling Nieca.

Your loving husband,
Richard

My sincere sympathy to Nadine's family. She was a teacher when I attended CF in the 70's and friendly with my sister, Diane MacLean, and we thought she was so pretty and very "hip" for a h.s. teacher. She was a wonderful and dedicated teacher and will be missed. She will be fondly remembered.

I haven't seen Nadine in years, but I will always remember her as kind, sincere, giving, and the most committed of all teachers. I am privileged to have known her and to have called her a colleague. I did not know she was ill, and my prayers go out to her entire family.

Nadine was a truly unique individual. Her compassion for others was quietly demonstrated throughout her lifetime. Through anonymous gifts and volunteerism, she touched the lives of many. She inspired and enlightened her students, always challenging them to grow and overcome life’s obstacles. Nadine’s kindness and thoughtfulness will truly be missed by all.
