Nicholas Maddalena Obituary

MADDALENA, NICHOLAS, F., 96, of Cranston, RI passed away on Monday, July 18, 2011. He was the husband of the late Phyllis (Sorrentino) Maddalena. Nick was in the Hospitality field for 56 years. He retired in 1982 after 30+ years as Manager of the Alpine Country Club in Cranston. A Devoted Father to Sally J. Ruggieri, Carol M. Kosowski, the late Barbara Palombo all from Cranston and his late son Dr. Nicholas C. Maddalena of Seattle, WA. He leaves a brother, Vincent Maddalena of Brockton, MA and sisters; Angelina DeRobbio of Cranston, Phyllis Fanara and Marguerite Caruolo of Warwick, and was brother of the late Carmino, Joseph and Alfred Maddalena. A wonderful grandfather to 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Mark's Church, Garden Court, Cranston. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston. www.WoodlawnGattone.com

Too many great memories to list here of times spent with uncle Nick.We had tons of fun playing gin with him and the cousins at outings and at my Dad's house.He was tough to beat. He was the champion of gin and the champion of the Maddalena family.He will be missed.

I am saddened to hear the passing of Nick Maddalena. I was hired by Nick back in September of 1971 as a bus girl. I was 17. Nick was a kind and gentle man. I have many fond memories working at the Alpine Country Club. He will be missed. Linda Romano Ribezzo

The last wonderful memory I have of you was at our daughter,Gina's wedding.She insisted on bringing you onto the floor so that she could have a dance with you,walker and all!It added a special touch to a woderful day that brought family and friends together.

I knew Nick when he was the manager of The Alpine Club in Cranston when I was a boy. There was never a kinder man. He will be sadly missed.
