Olive Travers Obituary

TRAVERS, OLIVE, 84, of Simmonsville Avenue, Johnston and formerly of East Providence, died Thursday at Rhode Island Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Joseph Travers, Jr.

She was born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Manuel and Mary (Albernaz) DeSilva. She was a bookkeeper for former general treasurer, Raymond Hawksley for ten years, before retiring in 1970. She was a member of the F.O.S.H. Committee and the Holy Ghost Beneficial Brotherhood.

She leaves two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Lataille of South Carolina, and Carol M. Goudreau of Greenville, and one son; Joe Mike Travers of Florida, two sisters, Alexandria Gold of Virginia and Dolores Arruda of Cranston, one brother; Paul DeSilva of Florida, eight grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren. She was the sister of the late Mary Van Nostrand, Frances Costa, Anthony and Arthur DeSilva.

Her funeral will be held Monday at 9 a.m. from the PERRY/McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Francis Xavier Church, North Carpenter Street. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours Sunday 5-8. Please omit flowers. Contributions to the American Lung Association would be deeply appreciated.
