Paul Dwyer Obituary

DWYER, PAUL E. 74, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2015 at his home in Narragansett, R.I with his wife and children by his side. He fought his illness with great strength and courage, never complaining, always maintaining hope. Paul worked for the State of Rhode Island in the Department of Administration until his retirement in 2004. He lived in Smithfield for 33 years and served on the Smithfield Town Council and the Zoning Board. He was elected to the Smithfield School Committee, serving 16 years, 12 of which as Chairman. He loved his sports, both watching and participating. He was a fan of the Celtics, Patriots, Red Sox, and especially, Notre Dame Football. Paul belonged to the Montaup Country Club and the Riverbend Athletic Club and was a former member of the Segregansett Country Club. He is survived by his wife Sally (Moore) Dwyer and his children and their families: Paul and Pam Dwyer, and their children Emerson and Avery, of Marshfield, MA; Sally and John Cascione, and their children Michael Cascione and Mollie McLaughlin, of Smithfield, RI; and Kathleen and Brian Evans, and their son Slate of Jamestown, RI. He also leaves his sisters, Margaret Dwyer of Woonsocket, RI and Brenda (James) Colihan of Riga, Maryland; Sister-in-law Florence Dwyer of Lincoln, RI. He was predeceased by his parents, Vincent and Margaret (Kennedy) Dwyer, and his brother Vincent Dwyer. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at 7:30 p.m in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1111 Boston Neck Rd., Narragansett, RI 02882. VISITING HOURS will be held Thursday from 4-7:30 p.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions would be greatly appreciated. Sally and family---I am very sorry to hear the news of Paul's passing. We played many a basketball games after school with him and he was quite the competitor ! My right knee still remembers him ! Hope you all hang in there the best you can. I am sure you have many great memories to enjoy.
