Roscoe John Obituary

JOHN, ROSCOE D., 90, of Phoenix Avenue, a retired plumber, died Tuesday in Cedar Crest Nursing Home, Cranston. He was the devoted husband of Florence M. (Olive) John.

Born in West Grove, Iowa, he was a son of the late Wardie H. and Ottie (Swain) John.

A veteran of The United States Navy, he served in World War II.

Mr. John had been employed with Local 28, Providence for sixty five years, retiring in 1983.

He was a member of the VFW Kelly-Gazzerro Post and Plumbers Local #28, Providence.

He was the loving father of Shirley A. Loiselle of Cranston, Gary L John of Charlestown, and Gail J. Oakes of Cranston; the cherished brother of Lowell John and Wayne John both of Burlington, Iowa, Beulah Summers of Memphis Missouri, and Betty Jean Fox of Port Clinton, Ohio; the beloved grandfather of seven and great grandfather of one. He was the brother of the late Oddis, Lyle, and Melvin John and Beatrice Niles.

His funeral will be held Friday at 9:00 am in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Rt. 5, Greenwood, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95). Burial with military honors will follow in The Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Relatives and friends are invited and may call TODAY, Thursday 4-8 pm.
