Burr Berringer Obituary

Burr Berringer, Jr., 80, of Rossiter, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2025.
He was born in Punxsutawney on Feb. 7, 1945, a son of the late Burr Berringer, Sr. and Betty (Mullens) Berringer.
Burr was a graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School and also attended Triangle Tech.
Mr. Berringer proudly served in the United States Army.
He worked as an inspector for PennDOT from 1993 until he retired in 2006.
On Sept. 12, 2002, he married Susan "Susie" Hankinson. They were partners for over 44 years and remained so until the end when Susie preceded him in death exactly six months earlier on March 10, 2025. He dearly missed her.
Burr enjoyed his family; he loved everybody and was an all-around nice guy. He enjoyed hunting with his son Michael, grandson Kyler and Frank Byerly, as well as all his other friends. He loved going to the beach with Susie and his family; he would sit for hours soaking up the sun and the view.
When at home he enjoyed sitting on the porch watching his tomatoes and flowers grow. Each year, he kept a tally of how many tomatoes his plants would produce and excitedly tell all his family and friends of the yearly totals. He enjoyed cooking and grilling and loved to spend time with his dog "Freedom."
He is survived by two children, Michelle (Daniel) Brink of Rossiter, and Michael Burr (Bethany) Berringer of Rossiter; four grandchildren, Kyler Burr Berringer and fiance Briea Heckler, Mesha (Anthony) Jury, Mikeelee Brink and fiance Michael Killian, and Bronson (Emily Sweeney) Brink; two great-grandchildren, Dax and Saylor Wasicki; niece Kelly Isenberg and children of New York; uncle Bob Berringer of Marion Center; cousin Christine Shaffer; mother-in-law Dorothy Painter of Rossiter; three sisters-in-law, Phyllis (Frank) Byerly of Punxsutawney, Pam Hankinson of Rossiter and Carol Hankinson of Punxsutawney; brother in-law Jim (Lesa) Hankinson of Rossiter; uncle Dale Cameron of DuBois; and special friend and neighbor Ray Lunger, who always looked out for him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Susie and two brothers, Maxwell Thomas Isenberg and Bruce Berringer.
Funeral arrangements are private and under the direction of Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney. Interment will be at Pearce Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Rossiter American Legion.
