Douglas Stello Obituary

Douglas James Stello, of Punxsutawney, died on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025.
Doug was born on Aug. 3, 1955, a son of the late James and Rose Marie (Villella) Stello. He graduated from Punxsutawney Area High School in 1973, and attended Chamberlain Junior College, in Boston.
Doug was a free spirit and an adventurer, and he traveled across the country, owning businesses along the way, from a coffee shop in Mesa, Arizona, to an antique shop in Eugene, Oregon, to a beach shop on the island of Hawaii. Antiques were Doug's passion. When he returned home, he continued collecting and selling antiques at his shop "It's All Stuff" in Walston, for many years. Doug was friendly and kind to everyone he met, and he loved animals, especially his beloved dog, Shorty. He was fondly referred to by his mom, Rosie, as her "hippie" child, as they shared a special bond, because of their unique and fun-loving spirit! Doug will be sadly missed by his family and his many friends.
Doug is survived by his sister, Jamie C. Stello (James Organ), his brother, Nickki L. Stello (Lauri Leasure), and his nephew, Antonio J. Stello (Olivia Nola). He is also survived by his uncle, Anthony Villella (Esther), as well as two aunts, Jennie Stello and Lois Stello, and many cousins.
There will be no public visitation. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saints Cosmas and Damian Roman Catholic Church, in Punxsutawney, on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2025, at 11 a.m., with Monsignor Joseph Riccardo as celebrant.
Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made, in Doug's memory, to a charity of the donor's choice.
McCabe Funeral Home, Inc. of Punxsutawney, has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Jamie and family, Doug was a true friend, and he will be greatly missed. He took my sisters dog, Thor, after she passed 2 months ago. They were meant for each other. Thor kept Doug hopping. I am so deeply sorry for your loss. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Jamie and family, it is with sadness we read about Doug, his presence with the elderly folks in the towers will be missed greatly, he was always the first to ask if someone needed help. His love for antiques was always interesting to us.

Jamie and Nicki, It crushes my heart to hear about Douglas. What a beautiful wonderful happy light-hearted carefree person he was! Never a dull moment with him a beautiful soul inside and out and you just smiled when you saw him and he brought joy to everyone. Please accept my condolences for everyone will miss him but he will never ever be forgotten because he is our hippie child forever as Rosemarie, would say! Rest in peace my dear Douglas, rest in peace. Cousin Julie

I only knew Doug for a short time, but he was one of the friendliest persons I ever met. He had a true concern for others. He will be sorely missed.
