James Owens Obituary

James "Jim" Allen Owens, 72, of State College, Pa, passed away peacefully at home on Sept. 4, 2025. Born in Clearfield, PA, on Oct.25, 1952, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Mary Jane (Pyle) Owens.
Jim was the devoted husband of 52 years to Diana (Addleman) Owens and a loving father to Melissa (Matt) Nipper of Chardon, OH, and Jami Owens (Nick Savereno) of State College, PA. He was "Pappy Jim" to grandsons Owen, Evan, and Miles, and step-grandchildren Ali and Marco, who will treasure his love and the many lessons he shared.
He is also survived by siblings Jan (Terry) Ledbetter of The Villages, FL, Pam (Dave) Riddle of Curwensville, PA, and Jeff (Shani) Owens of Spokane, WA, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
A graduate of Clearfield High School (1970) and Penn State University (1974), Jim worked as a financial planner for Prudential for 31 years before enjoying a second career as a school bus driver with the Punxsutawney Area School District. After retiring in 2022 (for good this time) he and Diana moved to State College, fulfilling a lifelong dream.
A devoted Penn State fan, faithful member of Park Forest United Methodist Church, and avid outdoorsman, Jim will be remembered for his love of family, community, and the simple joys of life.
Private services were held for the immediate family on 9/7.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made in Jim's name to Park Forest United Methodist Church, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or A Darrah Bull Bully Rescue.
