Baselisa Pulido Obituary

Baselisa "Bashie"
Pulido, 1935-2017

Surrounded by love, Baselisa Pulido passed away peacefully on the early morning of Sunday, April 30, 2017. She was a devoted, kind and loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, grandmother and friend to many. Baselisa "Bashie" Pulido was born in Brawley, California on March 14, 1935, to loving parents Isabel and Paula Ornelas, both farm laborers that moved from Texas during the Dust Bowl. Bashie was the eldest of her family and the first of her proud Ornelas clan to be born in California. Settling in the small town of Buttonwillow, in the Central Valley of California she lived and helped raise and support her 5 siblings and parents before settling down to marry her husband Ruben Pulido, in 1967. After marrying Ruben they moved to Virgina, then New York and back to California while he was working in Aerospace. She always said, "Life was an adventure" and loved that time in her life. In 1969, supporting her husbands dreams, they together opened up Casa Pulido Mexican Food in Redondo Beach and successfully ran the restaurant for 47 years until finally closing it in December of 2015. While helping to run a new restaurant, she built lots of new friendships and truly enjoyed making the South Bay her home. A Devout Catholic and advocate in prayer, especially with the Rosary, she had many happy memories in the church and in particular at St. Margaret Mary Alacoque Catholic Church. We are crushed with her passing, but are comforted in knowing she is at peace and celebrating eternal life with our Lord and many love ones we've lost.

She was preceded in death by her son, Ruben J. Pulido, Jr. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Ruben Pulido; her daughter, Lisa Garcia (Justin), grandsons, Colton Garcia and (Coty and Christian Garcia); .Grandson, Riley Pulido (Ruben Pulido Jr) and his mother Cynthia Walters and many loved ones. Please join us on Friday, May12, 2017, at St. Margaret Mary Alacoque Catholic Church. 25511 Eshelman Ave Lomita, CA 90717. Reciting of Rosary at 1:00 Celebration of Life Mass at 1:30. Private Burial. To Lisa and Family

We are so sorry for your loss. My family and I have enjoyed the whole Pulido family since the first restaurant opened on the north side of the street in '69. Spent many enjoyable evenings having dinner with friends and family in the restaurant, up to the week before closing. I have one of the last menus that was printed. Mrs. P was an amazing women. God Bless all of you.

So sad to hear about the loss of your wife and mother. My friends, family and I were regular customers at the Casa Pulido Restaurant. Her warm welcomes, beautiful smile, and cheerful attitude let her customers know that we were valued and considered a part of the family. She, like the restaurant, will be missed. Just know that she touched many, and Mama Pulido has a special place in our hearts too. God bless her and her family.
