Fred Walker Obituary

Fred Walker passed away on July 7, 2021, due to complications from Parkinson's disease. Fred was born in Las Vegas on July 9, 1938 and was a lifelong resident. He attended St. Joseph elementary school, Bishop Gorman High School and graduated in 1957 from Las Vegas High School. He started his career at the Golden Nugget in the "cage" then moved to the Tropicana Hotel and became a 21 dealer. He worked at the Tropicana for the next forty years retiring as a floorman. He was very athletic and played baseball, football, water skied, and snow skied but his passion was golf. He had 4 holes in one, started a very successful golf tournament that lasted for over 15 years, and in later life was the marshal on the Mountain Falls golf course in Pahrump. He will be remembered for his old Vegas charm, the twinkle in his eye, that full head of hair, and an engaging sense of humor. He is survived by his daughter Kim Walker (Kerry Lieb) and son Don Walker; grandchildren Caitlin WalkerLieb (Travis Smith), Zachary WalkerLieb (Laura Polster) and Kefir Walker; and three great grandchildren Annabelle, Layla, and Ryker. Services will be held Wednesday, August 4, 2021, 10 am, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 5830 Mesa Park Drive, Las Vegas, Nevada, 89135.

Fred, you were a great mentor to myself and Donnie growing up in the Vegas Valley, and I will always remember your guidance with the sports that you managed us to be the best we could be on and off the field. Rest in peace! Stevie Darnold.

My sincere condolences to the family and friends of Freddie Walker.
I worked with Fred for around 38 years at the
Tropicana.
He was working in the cage alongside Mitt Ellingston when I started there in the Craps Pit in 1972.
He retired a little before I did, and we used to talk frequently about the good old days and lament that we were the last two left from those times.
He was a great guy from when it was the real Las Vegas.
He will be missed by all who knew him.
Rest in peace my friend.
