Chris Kinkade

Chris D. Kinkade, 72, of Rapids City, Ill., passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, December 11, 2025.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Rafferty Funeral Home, 2111 1st Street A, Moline. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the National Cemetery, Rock Island, with full military honors presented by the Vietnam Veterans of America.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Chris's honor.
Chris was born on October 6, 1953, in Moline, the son of Donald and Betty (Cain) Kinkade. On July 25, 1998, he married Cathy Phillips in Bettendorf, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and family.
A proud U.S. Navy veteran, Chris served his country during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he dedicated his career to John Deere, beginning at the Foundry and later at John Deere in Ankeny, Iowa, where he retired in 2007. He was a loyal union member who valued hard work, camaraderie, and fairness.
Chris's passions extended beyond his career. He was an avid fisherman who found peace on the water and a devoted animal lover whose compassion touched every creature he encountered. His gentle spirit and steadfast values left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Cathy; children, Shelby Campbell of California, Kristen (Bob) Hurd of Moline, Zachary Kinkade of Colona, Ill., Michelle (Jeff) McDonald of Hagerstown, Md., Dawn McWhortor of Grinnell, Iowa, Jamie (Neil) St. Louis of New York, and Miranda Benson of Iowa; 19 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his mother, Betty Kinkade of Rapids City, Ill.; and brothers, Daniel (Cindy) Kinkade of Hampton, Ill., Russell (Pam) Kinkade of Rapids City, Ill., and Larry Kinkade of Davenport.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Kinkade.
Chris will be remembered for his devotion to family, his service to country, and his love of life's simple joys. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who loved him.
