Peggy C. Doak, 90, of Rock Island, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at her home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 30, 2026 at St Mary's Church, 2208 - 4th Ave, Rock Island. Visitation will be 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Rafferty Funeral Home, Moline with a rosary prayed at 12:30 p.m. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials can be made to St. Mary of the Woods College, Terre Haute, IN.
Peggy was born October 18, 1935 in Paris, IL the daughter of Roy and Margaret (Englum) Curl. She married Samuel Doak on June 22, 1957 in Paris, IL. He preceded her in death January 9, 2026.
Peggy obtained her Bachelor's degree in Music Education at St. Mary of the Woods, IN. She taught choir at Alleman High School, and music at the former Villa De Chantel, Rock Island. She taught beginning band in Illinois Catholic grade schools and numerous piano students for many decades. Peggy also owned and operated Top O' the Morning Bed and Breakfast, Rock Island.
Peggy was a member of St. Mary's Church where she served as the organist for over 50 years. She was an avid runner, sports fanatic and enjoyed knitting but her main interest was playing the piano, organ and harp.
Survivors include her children, Sam (Lis Figueroa) Doak, Aledo, IL, Brian (Sue) Doak, Stover, MO, Dr. Kevin (Therese) Doak, Herndon, VA, Dr. Mary (Phil Petrie) Doak, San Diego, CA, Dr. Bridget Doak, St. Paul, MN, John (Jill) Doak, Rock Island, Dan (Dr. Tom Zoubek) Doak, Lyons, NY, Margaret (Tony) Carton, Rock Island, Owen (Betty) Doak, Crystal Lake, IL, Dr. Colleen (Don Gustofson) Doak, Davenport and Sheila (Dr. Iornenge Jagusah) Doak, Rock Island; 29 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her twin infant daughters, Mary Anne and Mary Elizabeth and granddaughter, Katie Rice.
