David Koehler Obituary
"Chad" as he was affectionately known, was born July 24, 1967 in Muscatine, Iowa to parents Harold (Hap) and Phyllis (Rector) Koehler. He attended Black Hawk Area Special education classes in the Quad Cities until later moving to Lawrence Place in Mt Pulaski, Illinois, a supervised home for developmentally disabled adults in 1985. He was employed at the Lincoln Development Center workshop until 2024.
Chad was a multi-time participant and gold medal champion in the annual events held by Special Olympics Illinois. And while Chad had several hobbies, it was his ever-happy personality and instant smiles that endeared him to countless friends and strangers anywhere he went. His positive and never-shy demeanor carried an innocence that was free from hate, and he gave love to all who knew him.
Chad was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother. Visitation will be held at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader funeral home in Mt Pulaski Illinois, on Thursday February 19 at 1:00PM, with services to follow at 1:30PM. The Reverend Dr. Paul Brooks of Muscatine, Iowa will officiate. Interment will be at the Mt. Pulaski Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Special Olympics Illinois.

I am happy Chad kept his happy smiley disposition. I believe he had a good life. God is always in need of happy people. I provided day care when Hap and Phyllis were working. The day that stands out to me is when he took his first steps! Celebration!!
