David Lawerence Toliver, 53, of California, passed away, April 4, 2024.
Visitation will be Friday, April 12, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Second Baptist Church, 919 6th Ave, Rock Island, IL, 61201, with the funeral to immediately follow.
Born on September 4, 1970, in Rock Island, IL, David was the youngest son of Shirley Marie Ellis and Eddie L. Toliver. Growing up David battled with asthma so his nickname became "Weeze." Regardless he was still active in sports and track. David attended United Township High School in East Moline. He was an All-State in Track. He was Home Coming Prince in Junior High and High School. David set a High School Track Record for 4 x 800 Relay, Western Big 6 Conference Champs and placed 6th in State.
He loved to laugh, tell stories, and had boundless energy. He was a loyal friend to many. His family and friends meant the world to him. David was a natural performer. He pursued an acting career leading him to move to California where he would meet his wife.
David was an amazing poet, very intelligent and helpful. He loved to cook, grill and entertain. David was a kind and loving husband. He was a proud and supportive father. David attended all of his daughter, Savannah's performances. He loved sending pictures of her growth and accomplishments to his friends and family. He often reminded Savannah that her musical voice came from her grandmother, Shirley Marie.
He will be greatly missed by many, especially daughter, Savannah Marie Toliver; wife, Susanna Toliver; brothers: Michael Toliver (spouse-Kim) and Terrance Toliver.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Marie Ellis; father, Eddie Toliver; and his triplets, Louis Edward, Joshua Manuel and David Jacob.
