James P. Henry, 75, of East Moline, passed away Saturday, August 2, 2025.
Funeral service will be 11:30 am on Friday, August 8, 2025, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the family to start an education fund for his grandson, Eli.
James was born on June 13, 1950, in Rock Island, the son of Achiel Leonard and Eleanor Ruth (Lindholme) Henry. He graduated from United Township High School, Class of '68. James joined the U.S. Airforce in 1969 and became an Aircraft Maintenance Specialist for fighter jets. He was a proud Vietnam Veteran. He married Theresa Poelvoorde in June of 1975, she preceded him in passing in 1999. James later married Vickie Redmon and they later separated. James worked as a pipefitter for the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union 25. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed golfing with his buddies at Highland Springs Golf Course, hunting, and fishing. James traveled the United States, Canada, and Mexico on his Harley Davidson. Most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his "mini me" – Eli.
James is survived by his daughter, Meghan (Ian) Dettmer, Silvis; step-son, Stephen (Melissa) Brinkley, Paris, IL; grandsons, Coy and Eli Dettmer; step grandsons, Caleb and Carter Brinkley; brother, John Leon (Barbara) Henry, Ottumwa, IA; sister, Dawn (Al) Miller, Colona; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa; parents; sister, Cheryl Catour; and brother, Leonard Anthony Henry.
