Jan Frey Obituary
Jan Katherine (Evans) Frey, age 94, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2025.
Born and raised in Moline, Ill., Jan was a proud graduate of Moline Senior High School, Class of 1948. She remained deeply connected to her hometown community throughout her life and was a dedicated member of American Legion Post 246. In 2017, she moved to Gainesville, Fla., to be closer to family.
Jan was a woman of many talents and deep passions. She found joy in the art of crocheting, knitting, sewing, and quilting; crafting countless treasured gifts that will be cherished by her loved ones for generations. An exceptional baker, she was especially known for her famous coffee cake, a sweet symbol of her warmth and generosity.
She is lovingly remembered by her children, Michael (MaryEllen) Frey and Kathy (Roger) Hutton; her grandchildren, Stephanie, Nicholas, Taylor, and Allison; and her great-grandchildren, Joshua and Eva. She is also survived by her brother, Mike (Sharon) Evans; sister-in-law, Connie Evans; and nieces and nephews Mark, Scott, Kurt, Jeff, and Julie.
Jan is now reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband of 63 years, Emmett Frey; her dear son, Todd Frey; her parents, Evan S. and Mildred Evans; and her brother, John Evans.
Jan's legacy is one of love, creativity, and kindness. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her, through every handmade blanket, every family story, and every sweet bite of coffee cake. She will be forever loved and deeply missed.

Our condolences to Mike, Kathy and your families. It was so gracious of you and Mel to take your mother into your home after your father's passing. We cherish the memories and time spent with both Emmett and Jan at the American Legion and VFW in Moline, IL. We still get a laugh when your father had told the story when your mother had fallen out of bed and he RAN around the bed to help her; your mother replied, really, you RAN around the bed? This was when Emmett was using a cane/walker and having problems walking. May you find peace and comfort from those around you during this time of sadness.

Sorry for your loss Mike your mom always had a smile and always made us feel welcome in her home i was glad that I got to spend some time with her when I was in Florida to see you she was such a kind and caring person she will be missed by all
