John P. LeMaster

December 6, 1945 - July 29, 2025

John P. LeMaster, 79, of Moline, passed away July 29, 2025, at his home.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 1-5 p.m. on November 8, 2025, at The Moline Viking Club. Memorials may be made to Martha DeVore for a fund to be established in John's name. Per John's wishes cremation rites have been accorded.

John was born on December 6, 1945, in Richmond, California to John and Virginia (Orth) Felts. At the age of 5, he was adopted by Glen LeMaster. He went to Franklin Grade School, Calvin Coolidge Junior High and graduated from Moline High School, class of 1964.

At the age of 11, he started working as a newspaper boy for the evening paper the Moline Daily Dispatch. He married Kathy Sheley and they had 3 children, Shane (deceased), Rae Ann (deceased), and an estranged daughter.

John was known as a "Jack of All Trades." He worked at John Deere Harvester, Rock Island Arsenal, Cordova Dragway and CAT Scale in Walcott Iowa. John loved camping and traveling on his bike to Sturgis and Blue Ridge Parkway. He and Martie also enjoyed winters in Florida until John's health got bad. He also loved drag racing at the Cordova Dragway. He was active with the VVA and Blackhawk Chapter, ABATE of Illinois.

He is survived by his caregiver and activity director, Martie Christensen DeVore; sisters, Becky and Kent Witherby, The Villages, FL and Robin and Cole Huffman, Atoka, Tennessee; brother, Lon and Deb, Australia; step-granddaughter, Megan and Jon Parmentier, Geneseo; great grandchildren, Maddison and Maximus Parmentier; aunt, Shirley LeMaster, East Moline and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Felts and Glen & Virginia LeMaster; infant daughter, Rae Ann and son, Shane.

A big special thanks goes to our neighbors Jo and Pat Richardson for all the help with John over the years. Bless them bunches.

John is now with his son Shane and together they are go-kart racing.
