Kathleen V. Lennon, 81, Carbon Cliff, IL, passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at UnityPoint-Trinity Hospital, Rock Island.
There will be a visitation on Monday, July 29, 2024, from 12:30 - 1:30 PM with a memorial service following at 1:30 PM at the Knox Chapel of Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 2106 7th Ave, Rock Island. Inurnment will follow at Davenport Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to the QC Animal Welfare Center or an animal shelter of the donor's choice.
Kathleen was born on July 31, 1942, to Orville and Maxine (Weiford) Hansen in Davenport, IA. She was raised by her grandparents Eber and Violet Weiford after her parents passed away when she was a child. She was especially close to her Uncle Diz and Aunt Lee Dismer. She grew up in Davenport and graduated from Davenport High School as Valedictorian of Class of 1960. Kathleen graduated from Carleton College, Northfield, MN, in 1964, and received a Fulbright Grant for travel to India where she taught English for a year.
Kathleen's career in information technology began in the early days of computer systems, starting at Deere & Co. as a systems analyst. On February 21, 1981, she was united in marriage to James P. Lennon and relocated to Houston, TX, where she continued to utilize her technology and management skills as an IT Manager for Coastal Corporation. After divorcing and then retiring in 1998, she returned to the Quad Cities.
Kathleen was an avid traveler who went all over the world, especially enjoying riverboat cruises in Europe. She also enjoyed reading and playing bridge.
She is survived by many dear relatives: Virginia Dismer, Jeffrey (Martha) Dismer, Sheila (Jim) Mountain, Jamie (Casey) Brodersen, Derek (Heidi) Dismer, Connor (Julia Splittorff) Dismer, Marshall (Ali) Dismer, Colin (Lauren VanSpeybroeck) Dismer, Ellie (Jake) Wietholder, Spencer Haynie, Kieli (Cole) Brinkmeier, Avery Mountain, Hans and Finn Brodersen, and Isla and Lena Dismer, Mark Weiford, Alice Dominacki, Patty Dominacki, Nancy Czubara, and Harold Dusenberrry, Stephanie Brown; lifelong friend and travel companion, Paula Walton; and her beloved cats, Lacey and Piper.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents; uncles and aunts: Harold and Verlee (Weiford) Dismer, Robert and Jean Weiford, Wayne and Rosella Weiford; and cousins: Daniel Dismer and Janice Dismer.
