Lori Sue Rutten

September 22, 1961 - October 19, 2023

Lori Sue Rutten, 62, of Davenport, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, October 19, 2023, at UnityPoint Health-Trinity, Rock Island.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 30, 2023, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E. 4th Avenue, Milan. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, October 29, 2023, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Edgington Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Whitney Rutten Supplemental Needs Trust.

Lori was born September 22, 1961, in Muscatine, IA, to Frank Preston and Carroll (Ruggles) Powell. She graduated from Moline High School in 1979. Lori married Mike Rutten and to their union they had one daughter, Whitney. Lori worked in the insurance industry her entire life, opening her Allstate Agency in May 2006. Lori was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church. Lori was a selfless woman whose passing has left an unfillable gap in the hearts of her loved ones. Her ability to sacrifice, provide, support, forgive, and love will be forever engrained in all she knew. Lori dedicated her life to others and especially to her daughter, Whitney. She was very involved in the community, volunteering in countless organizations. Lori enjoyed going to shows, dinner, and Chicago Cubs games with friends and family. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her daughter.

Survivors include her daughter, Whitney Rutten; father, Frank (Nancy) Preston; siblings: Cheryl Preston, Vicki (Paul) Rosmann, and Mark (Jamie) Preston; nephews and nieces: David (Jessica) Preston, Joel (Kayla) Preston, Paul Jr. (Cassandra) Rosmann, Ashley (Robbie) Rosmann, Brandon, Emma, and Carter Preston; mother-in-law, Bonnie Rutten; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

Lori was preceded in death by her mother, Carroll Powell; and brother, Scott Preston.

I had the privilege of meeting Lori through insurance filled over there in a minute that my husband and I first met her I lost my husband almost 3 years ago and she was so caring towards me when I was going through she was just such a wonderful person if you needed someone to talk to you she was there just a phone call away she will be missed she was one awesome lady

I like Lori nice and caring. I did Special Olympics with her daughter. I sometimes go up to her work and talk to her she a very good listener and a friend. She never turn you away rest in peace you will be missed.
