Mary Luann Browning
April 17, 1954-March 10, 2022
CAMBRIDGE-Mary Luann Browning, 67, of Cambridge, IL, went to be with her Lord and savior on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at her home. A private graveside service will be held for immediate family only at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the ALS Association (https://donate.als.org/) and Iowa Paralyzed Veterans of America (https://iowapva.org/).
Mary Luann was born April 17, 1954, the daughter of Richard E. and Dorothy Donlin, in Davenport, IA. She was baptized at 15th Avenue Christian Church. She grew up in Rock Island and graduated from Rock Island High School, class of 1972. Mary attended Moline Public Hospital School of Nursing and graduated from Blackhawk College. She was a registered nurse who loved rehab and geriatric nursing. She was employed by Hillcrest Home in Geneseo, Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri, and retired from Hammond Henry Hospital in Geneseo.
She was married to the late Robert Browning, for whom she retired early to care for when he was stricken with ALS. She was especially proud of her four children, eleven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. With ten grandsons, all family gatherings were a real adventure, but Mary loved cooking and baking for her large family and her friends. She enjoyed crafting, genealogy, and camping.
Survivors include her children, Matthew (Jaime Vermaat) Browning, Kimberly (Shawn) Stiles, Katrina (Steve Hershman) Browning, and Angela (John) Sepulveda; grandchildren, Nathan (Gabrielle Wright) Stiles, Alexis (Lucas) Kirlin, Marcus (McKenzie Carley) Stiles, Abigail Hershman, Clayton Browning, Therron DeBackere, Nick Browning, Emmalynn Hershman, Adam Browning, Trinity Sepulveda, Blake Howser, Zander DeBackere, Nevan Browning, and Colby Howser; great-grandchildren, Emmett Kirlin, Addison Kirlin, Charlotte Masias, and River Golden; sister, Linda (Frank) Warren; and nieces, Carrie Linn, Nicole, and Courtney.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Dorothy; her husband, Robert; special friend, Charlie Verscheure; and several children who never made it to birth but will greet her in heaven.
Special thanks to Compassus Hospice (Vera, Taylor, Chris, Heather, and Roger). Love and appreciation to Dawn Bobinski – a loving and amazing caregiver, friend, and bonus family member.
