Michael R. Millizer
April 13, 1962 - July 23, 2025
After a life rooted in faith and devotion to all he did, Michael Rex Millizer entered eternal rest on July 23, 2025. Though his time with us was limited, his legacy will live on forever through the countless hearts he touched along the way.
Born to Francis and Dixie (Wells) Millizer on April 13, 1962. Mike was raised in East Moline, Illinois, a city he forever loved and proudly called home. Growing up in the heart of the Quad Cities, Mike formed lifelong friendships, embraced community values and carried the spirit of his hometown with him wherever he went. He truly never met a stranger.
On January 19, 1985, Mike married DeAun L. Peters and together they built a life centered on love, commitment, and shared purpose. Their bond was a constant source of strength for one another. Their faith restored them daily, grounding them through life's joys and challenges. They made the conscious decision each day to always choose each other. Together they shared two children, a true testament to their enduring love and shared values. Mike built a family grounded by his strength, guided by his faith, and sustained by his unwavering love. He led his family well, with love and integrity and they were his greatest treasure.
Mike began his career by proudly serving in the Air Force where he developed a strong sense of discipline, resilience and dedication, values that would guide him throughout his entire life. After his time in the service, he transitioned into the construction industry, where he built far more than just structures; he built a reputation for integrity, craftsmanship and a strong work ethic. Whether working on job sites or helping lead those in the industry, Mike took pride in a hard day's work and found joy in creating things that lasted. His hands and creative mind shaped buildings, but his heart shaped long lasting and intentional relationships.
Mike spent his spare time enjoying golf and was happiest on the course with friends that became family. He had a special appreciation for car shows, where he could admire the classics and connect with others. Family trips to Myrtle Beach were a beloved tradition of his; times filled with laughter, connection, and the kind of memories that last a lifetime.
He was an active member of Christ the King Church (Moline, IL), and served in the Knights of Columbus (Father Betson council) where his faith deepened and his community grew. He was also involved in Cursillo and TEC, both of which were meaningful parts of his spiritual journey and personal mission to serve others.
Of all the roles Mike cherished in life, he was most excited to be a Grandpa, a title he looked forward to with immense joy and pride. He anticipated this time in his life and was ready to share his love, wisdom and playful spirit with the next generation. His grandchildren's lives will never be the same after the impression he made in such a short time. His love, laughter, and gentle demeanor will remain with them always.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, DeAun of East Moline; son and daughter-in-law, Jakob (Christine) Millizer, Milwaukee, Wisconsin; daughter and son-in-law, Marlayna (Matt) Robinson, Nolensville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Rex and Duke Robinson; sister, Kathy (Dave) Dies; brothers, Steve (Elyse) Millizer and Jim (Leah) Millizer; special sister, Mickie (John) DeBaene; mother-in-law, Barbara Robaczewski; and several nieces, nephews, and other family.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Dixie; father-in-law, Colin Robaczewski; father-in-law, Gary Peters; and nephew, Sean Millizer.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 12 p.m. Thursday, July 31st, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline, IL. Interment will be at a later date.
