Stephen Charles Bomelyn
July 20, 1958-May 4, 2021
ROCK ISLAND-Stephen Charles Bomelyn, 62, of Rock Island, died Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at his home surrounded by family. Cremation rites were accorded. A memorial visitation will be from 4-6 pm Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Avenue, Rock Island. The family encourages you to wear your favorite Chicago Cubs attire. Memorials may be made in care of the family to establish an education fund for Steve's grandson, Jayden.
Steve was born in Davenport, Iowa on July 20, 1958, a son of Richard and Donna Larkin Bomelyn. He was a graduate of Moline High School. Steve married Beth Feller on February 2, 2003 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Steve worked as a buyer and as an IT technician for 32 years for Gierke Robinson Company.
He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. The Cubs pulled a double header win on the day he passed away. He was the best Dad and Papa the family could ever ask for.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Beth Bomelyn, Rock Island; daughters, Andrea Bomelyn, Rock Island and Kristi Bomelyn, Phoenix, Ariz.; step-daughters, Julie (Jared) Rothlauf, Kenosha, Wisc. and Ali (Karin) Dietsch, Iowa City, Iowa; grandchildren, Jayden, Jordan, Trey, Quentin, Rylen, Paxton, Addison and Ava; siblings, Karen Seidell, Dave Bomelyn and Mary (Jeff) Lavin; and two special people whom Steve loved as his own, Taylor and D.J. Butler.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister he never got to meet, Elizabeth Bomelyn and his beloved cat, Smithers.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Keevan, Dr. Constantinou and his staff (especially Lori Franklin) and UnityPoint Hospice for their kindness and compassion.

I coached Steve when he was a 10th grader for the Maroons. Also competed against him. He was a good athlete and a good guy. Condolences to his family.
