SHERRARD, IL-Thomas W. Leingang, Sr., 87, of Sherrard, IL, passed away February 4, 2021 at Genesis-East Campus, Davenport, IA.
Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Monday, February 8, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan, with private services following at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A recording of Tom's funeral may be viewed from his obituary page at wheelanpressly.com following services. Public gathering guidelines will be observed regarding capacity, face mask and social distancing by those attending. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery, Davenport, IA. Memorials may be made to The Mini Fridge, Davenport, St. Jude's, Paralyzed Veterans of America or Disabled American Veterans. A celebration of Tom's life will be held at a later date.
Thomas was born February 15, 1933 in Milan, IL, a son of Harry and Mabel (McConnel) Leingang. He married Joan C. Mindock on January 8, 1956. She preceded him in death. He later married Josephine Johnson on February 6, 1965 in Davenport. She preceded him in death on September 1, 2015.
Tom was an operating engineer, and worked for Treiber Construction for over 30 years. He loved operating heavy equipment.
He enjoyed fishing, war movies and westerns, and old country music. His favorite times were those spent with family and friends, making chili and homemade ice cream, and enjoying popcorn and butterfingers.
Surviving are his children, Thomas (Deanne) Leingang, Jr., Sherrard, Susan (Brad) Titus, Richmond, KY, David (Carol) Leingang, Sherrard; daughter-in-law, Jill Leingang, Geneseo; forty-seven grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother, Fred Hurley, Milan; sisters-in-law, Karen Johnson, Davenport, and Mary Lindley, Coyne Center; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; wives; son, Michael Leingang; brothers, Bill and Robert Leingang; and brother-in-law, Joe Johnson.
