Timothy "Poppie" Jared
September 23, 1953 – July 8, 2024
The sun set on Timothy "Poppie" Jared, 70, of Milan, IL, on Monday, July 8, 2024, at UnityPoint Health-Trinity, Rock Island. He was surrounded by his family, after a strong battle against Leiomyosarcoma.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., Friday, August 2, 2024, at Heritage Church in Rock Island, with a memorial service and dinner immediately following. Please feel free to dress in whatever makes you comfortable. Family will be escorting Poppie out in their Harley attire. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan is assisting with the arrangements.
Tim was born September 23, 1953, in Geneseo, IL, to Archie and Shirley (Messenger) Jared. He was a 1972 graduate of Moline High School. He married the love of his life, Kathy DeClerck, on February 16, 1974, and together they built a wonderful and adventurous life, traveling often.
He worked at John Deere Plow then retired from PDC after 33 years and took on a variety of jobs before and after retirement, the last being at Zurcher Tire (Statewide,) where he worked for more than 10 years until the end of April 2024.
In his early years, Tim was on a stock car pit crew, bowled in leagues, raced his '57 Chevy at Cordova Drag Strip and ran in the Bix 7.
Later in life he regularly attended Heritage Church and the Monday night men's MUC group, rode motorcycles with the Palmers Heritage group, and went on missions with them to Shiloh Christian Children's Ranch in Missouri. He enjoyed watching the birds, dog-sitting Pudge and Guinness, cat-sitting Paisley and sharing treats with his neighbor's dogs.
Tim definitely enjoyed life. He loved taking sunset photos and going on walks. His only hobby was keeping his wife happy, going along with whatever she had planned, but most of all spending as much time with his grandkids as possible. He was selfless and rarely complained.
Although Tim was a quiet man, his actions spoke loudly. He loved his friends (you know who you are), believed in God and in the saying, "If mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy." He was dedicated to providing for his family until his last breath and held on to life for them until God called him home.
Those left to cherish Tim's memory include his loving wife of 50 years, Kathy; daughters, Liz (Jay) Findlay, and Alicia Jared; grandchildren, Jade Findlay, Emily (Jesse) Greene, Sven (Kenzey Wogomon) Findlay, James Edgington, and Zane (Maddy) Edgington; great-grandchildren, Lila and August Greene, and Easton and Vivian Findlay; brothers, Roger (Terri) Jared, Terry (Linda) Jared, Perry (Debby) Jared, and Alfonso Tenorio; sisters, Sue (Dave) Felton and Yvonne; cousins; and many many others!
He was preceded in death by both parents; oldest brother, Alan; niece, Erin Jared; and several loved ones and friends that we are sure were overjoyed to see him.
Memorials may be made to Heritage Church in Rock Island, Shiloh Christian Children's Ranch in Missouri, the National Leiomyosarcoma Foundation, or a charity of your choice in Tim's memory.
Online condolences and memories may be shared with Tim's family on his tribute wall at www.wheelanpressly.com.
