William "Bill" E. Vermost

William "Bill" E. Vermost, 83, passed away on April 8, 2024, at his home in Geneseo, IL.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 14, 2024, from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory - Geneseo Chapel. A funeral service celebrating his life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 15, 2024, at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory - Geneseo Chapel. Pastor Terry Lancaster will officiate. He will be laid to rest at North Cemetery in Geneseo, military rites will be accorded.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Isle of Flags.
William "Bill" Vermost was born on June 6, 1940, in Moline, IL, the son of Alfred and Laura (Clark) Vermost. Bill married Ruth Seabloom on April 30, 1960, and together they had four beautiful children. Bill was a member of the United States Navy from 1959-1964 working on the SS Corporal submarine. He was employed at John Deere as an industrial electrician. Bill loved rolle bolle, was an avid reader, enjoyed telling stories and was passionate about all things John Deere and the Navy. He was a member of the American Legion of Geneseo, participated in the color guard, enjoyed going to Navy reunions, and especially loved spending time with his family.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Ruth Vermost; daughters: Robin (Bruce) Ropp of Geneseo, IL, Nina Tarbay of Roscoe, IL, Jodi (Dennis) Verbeck of Atkinson, IL; son, Joel (Paula) Vermost of Geneseo, IL; sister, Frances Tanner of Prophetstown, IL; grandchildren: Jordan (Jett) Black, Jaymeson Tarbay, Eddie (Amara Wheeler) Tarbay, Ivy Tarbay, Austin (Karen) Verbeck, Grace Verbeck, Jenna Vermost and Mitchell Vermost; great-grandchildren: Stormy Black, Belle Black, Jack Verbeck and Isla Verbeck.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Raymond Tarbay; and brother-in-law, Robert Tanner.
