Lucy Albina Sandoval

1931 - 2024

Lucy Albina Sandoval age 93 went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday October 9, 2024. She was born to Jose and Maria Inez Arellano on May 17, 1931, in Tucumcari, New Mexico. She was lifelong resident of Tucumcari, New Mexico.

Lucy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She was a 1976 graduate of Tucumcari, High School Night School Program. She went on To receive her Associate Degree in Education in 1988 from ENMU in Portales, NM. She Was a Teachers Aide at Zia Elementary, she also taught dance. She went onto work for Mesalands Community College as an Educational Service Center Aide where she taught English as a second Language. In 1997 she was named "Older Outstanding Worker" by the Green

Thumb Community Service Employment Program. In 2006 she received an Honorary Associate of Applied Science from Mesalands Community College. Lucy was a devoted member of St. Annes Catholic Church where she served in the choir and was A Eucharistic Minister and Reader. She loved singing and dancing, most of all spending time with her family.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Juan W. Sandoval, her Parents Jose and Maria Inez Arellano, Her daughter Carol Corbin, Her Son in law Jerry Martinez, her grandson Miguel Corbin, her great grandsons Jordan and Jeremiah Vigil, Her father and mother-in-law Juan C. and Carolina Sandoval, Her sister Frances Mares, Her Brothers Willie Roybal, Jose Arellano, Felipe Arellano, and Estevan Arellano. She is survived by her Son Ben Sandoval (Jaye) of Albuquerque, NM, her Daughters Dorothy Martinez of Las Vegas, NM, Juanita Telles (Gilbert) of Los Lunas, NM. Eleven grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren.

A Rosary will be held on Tuesday October 15, 2024, at 10am with the Funeral Mass to follow at 11am at St. Annes Catholic Church with Father Cameron Degani officiating. Serving as Pall bearers will be Jerry Martinez, Jose Martinez, Same Martinez, Justin Martinez, Brian Corbin, and Romolo Mares. Serving as Honorary Pall bearers will be all her grandchildren.

Burial will be at Tucumcari Memorial Park with a reception following at Hammond Hall.
