Ann Walsh Obituary

Ann Walsh

August 2, 1936 - October 30, 2024

Services celebrating the life of Ann Walsh, 88, of Davenport, will be held at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Visitation will be Monday, November 4, 2024, from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. Burial will follow funeral services at Davenport Memorial Park. A luncheon is planned. Ann was a "jeans kind of gal" so please dress casually.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to CASI (Center for Active Seniors, Inc, Davenport) or Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Davenport.

Ann passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at MercyOne Genesis East Hospital, Davenport after a brief illness.

Ann (Antoinette) Catherine Metz was born August 2, 1936, in Riverside, Iowa, a daughter of Simon and Hortense (Bulger) Metz. She was united in marriage to Leonard P. Walsh in 1955 in Riverside. He preceded her in death on June 28, 1992.

Prior to her retirement she had worked for the Iowa Department of Human Services and FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency). She also volunteered for the Red Cross and Humility Homes and Services.

Ann was very independent. She loved to travel, garden, read, play Euchre, crochet, and do puzzles. She went skydiving at the age of 60 and ran/walked the Bix multiple times. Her family was most important, and she cherished the times spent with them. She actively followed her grandchildren's activities and loved attending WWW (Walsh Women's Weekend) with her daughters.

Those left to honor her memory include her children Debra (Corey) Fulton, Rapids City, Ill., Valerie (Chuck) Swynenberg, Davenport, Anthony (Laura) Walsh, Washington, Iowa, Suzanne (Bruce) Meerman, Loudon, Tenn., Andrea (James) Houk, Davenport, Theresa (Brian) Gaines, Arnold, Mo., and Lynette (Jeff) Wilson, Quincy, Ill.; 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and one on the way; sisters- and brother-in-law Muriel Metz, Rajet Metz, Helen Metz, Joan Walsh and Pete Stumpf; and a large and loving extended family.

In addition to her husband Leonard, preceding her in death were an infant daughter Nancy; sisters Mary Metz, Gladys Kron, Dorothy Brophy, Vivian Kleinschmidt, Donna Stumpf; brothers Gerald, Melvin, Urban, Edward, Elmer, John, James; and special friend and travel partner, Edward Cabor.

Will miss her dearly. Every morning I would get her ready for our workout and had some chocolate candy and she would say with a big smile and say how did you know I had a sweet tooth
