Arlyn "Wass" Wassenhove

Arlyn "Wass" Wassenhove, 79, of Coal Valley, passed away Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at his home surrounded by his adoring family.
Cremation rites will be accorded. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Arlyn was born on June 9, 1942, in Moline, the son of Albert and Dorothy (McLaughlin) Wassenhove. He married Pat Dunlap on May 23, 1964, in Moline. They have shared over 50 years of marriage and memories together. He retired in 2008 from Swan Engineering, where he worked as a tool and die maker for many years. Arlyn loved being outdoors, camping, snowmobiling, and riding his motorcycle with his wife. He was an avid NASCAR fan and spent much of his time working on crossword and sudoku puzzles. He was a gun advocate and collector. He enjoyed traveling with his family and being with his grandchildren. Arlyn never met a stranger and loved socializing with his many great friends.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Pat; daughter, Cindy (Derek) Murphy, LeClaire, son, Steve Wassenhove, Muscatine; grandchildren, Kylie and Kelsey Murphy, Payton and Avery Wassenhove; brothers, Lee (Vicki) Wassenhove, Jeff (Denise) Wassenhove; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and infant twin brothers.
The family would like to thank the staff at the University of Iowa Hospital for their amazing care given to Arlyn.
