Barbara J. Bertelsen, 80, of Coal Valley, passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at UnityPoint Health Trinity, Rock Island.
Per Barb's wishes, no services are to be held.
Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island is assisting the family.
Memorials may be left in care of Christian Care, Rock Island.
Barb was born on February 16, 1944 in Moline, IL, a daughter of Joseph W. and Beverly J. (Rydberg) Woods. She married James "Jim" Bertelsen on December 29, 1968.
Barb's hobbies included riding horses, flower gardening (especially her beloved hostas and lilies), decorating for the holidays and spending quality time with friends and family.
Those left to cherish Barb's memory include her husband of 55 years, Jim Bertelsen, Coal Valley; son, Eric (Rebecca) Bertelsen, KY; brother, Jeffrey (Maggie) Woods, Rock Island; sister, Laurie Fennesy, Moline; and several nieces and nephews.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Bruce Woods.

I met Barb 40 years ago at the Fancy Filly in Moline IL & as time went on we became neighbors . I'll always envision her working her front yard & pampering the many hosts that grow along the Berttlsen driveway . Rest in peace my friend Deborah Chokkalingam
