WALCOTT-Barbara J. Dodds, 79, of Walcott, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2019 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, Iowa.
Her memorial services will be on Sunday, July 21, 2019 at St. Albans Episcopal Church, 3510 W. Central Park Ave. in Davenport, Iowa. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a celebration of life service at 4:00 p.m. There will be a luncheon at the church immediately following the service open to anyone who wishes to attend. Memorials may be made either to the church or the family; all memorials to the family will be donated to the Davenport Community Food Pantry.
Barbara was born April 9, 1940 in Fairview, Iowa, the daughter of Jesse "Howard" & Darpha "Dorothy" Mae (Edler) Sours. She was united in marriage to William F. Dodds Jr. on June 22, 1958 in Buffalo, Iowa. He preceded her in death on June 23, 1997.
Barbara was a computer programmer at Hon Industries, retiring in 2002. She was a graduate of Scott Community College with a degree in computer programming. An active member of St. Albans, she had sung in the church choir and also with Sweet Adelines International.
A member of the Illowa Orchid Society, Barbara held a passion for gardening and flowers, she enjoyed reading and she had passed her love of music onto her children.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Julia Dodds of Coralville, Iowa; her sons, Mike (Lori) Dodds of Davenport, Matthew (Dawn) Dodds of Muscatine, Iowa and Andrew (Julie) Dodds of Walcott; seventeen grandchildren; and twenty-three great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, William, she was preceded in death by her sister, Carol Oaks.
