Charles (Chuck) W. Geisewite

Charles (Chuck) W. Geisewite died in San Antonio TX, on September 25, 2023.

Charles was born in Pittsburgh, PA, to Charles F. and Julia M. He is the oldest of four children. He attended Davenport High School graduating with the class of 1955. He attended the University of Iowa finishing with a graduate degree in Geology. During college he married his high school sweetheart Barbara (Barb) Elerick, they were married for 53 years and had two children Sandra Lynn and Charles Robert.

In college Chuck was a member of the Army ROTC program and received his commission in 1961. He served for 23 years until his retirement in 1984. Chuck's first tour was overseas at Heidelberg Germany. Returning to the United States, Barb and the kids remained in Iowa while Chuck did his first tour in Vietnam being awarded the Bronze Star. Upon his return Chuck was stationed at Fort Belvoir, Virginia to attend a Spanish language school before being stationed in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Chuck was assigned to the Army Defense Mapping Agency-Inter American Geodetic Survey (DMA/IAGS) assisting various Latin American countries to professionally map their countries. Chuck then went to his second tour to Vietnam and was awarded his second Bronze Star. Upon his safe return home he was stationed at the Rock Island Arsenal working in research and development. Chuck then accepted assignment once again with DMA-IAGS to Santiago, Chile. He then completed his last assignment in Washington DC with DMA Headquarters.

Chuck and Barb moved to San Antonio, TX, where he worked at Lackland Air Force Base as a GS-11 in Economic Analysis and Finance. He retired permanently in 1998, and they remained in San Antonio, TX. Chuck was a Sigma Chi, a Mason, and a member of the Rotary Club.

Charles was friendly and outgoing, and never met a stranger. He is pre-deceased by his parents, wife Barb, and brother, Larry.

He is survived by his daughter, Sandra, a nurse in San Antonio, TX. His son, Charles, retired Army of Cedar Park, TX. Sister, Julia Cherry of Honolulu, HI. Sister, Fran Reiland of Pittsburgh, PA. Brother, Bob Eckhart of Davenport, IA. Sister, Dianne Carl of Charlestown, SC. Five grandchildren: Christopher, Edward, Cynthia, Kyle, and Tyler. Lastly four great-grandchildren.

He will truly be missed by family and friends. Visitation will be at the Runge Mortuary and Crematory 11:00 - 12:00 for family, followed 12:00 - 2:00 for the public, on Monday, October 9, 2023.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association at website, act.alz.org.
