Cheryl Ann Schilling, 77, of Cedar Rapids, IA, died Thursday, May 9, 2024, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, IA.
A memorial service will be at 10:00 on Friday June 7, 2024, at Rock Island Arsenal. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids assisted the family. Cheryl was born October 1, 1946, in Williamsburg, IA, the daughter of William and Mary Elaine (Bryson) Kelsey. She graduated from Assumption High School, Class of 1964. Cheryl was united in marriage to John Crossen in Davenport, IA; the couple later divorced.
Cheryl worked as an interior decorator until her retirement in 1993. On November 13, 1993, she married William Francis Schilling III in Davenport. Cheryl was incredibly social and found joy in hosting parties. She actively participated in the Davenport Festival of Trees and took pleasure in reading, interior decorating, and playing euchre. Above all else, Cheryl treasured moments with her family, particularly her grandchildren.
Survivors include her children: Laura (Bill) Watkins of Keller, TX, Cindy Barnett, and Jennifer Webster, both of Cedar Rapids; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Steve Kelsey of Fort Myers, FL; and stepchildren: Erin (Bill) Bush and Brian Schilling, all of Davenport. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary Elaine Kelsey; husband, William F. Schilling III; and stepson, Paul Schilling.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital; or the WWII Museum.
