Janet Leman, 75, of Bettendorf, Iowa passed away at Bettendorf Health Care Center on October 1, 2024. Burial was at Hebrew Cemetery, Rock Island, Ill.
Janet was born on March 8, 1949, in Davenport, Iowa. She was the daughter of Max and Helen (Barmash) Leman.
Janet attended public schools in Davenport, college in Kirksville, Mo., and worked in the telecommunications industry. Janet's life was a profile in courage.
Health problems continually plagued her (lupus as a youngster and a kidney transplant named "Mazel" as an adult). Yet she remained stoic with a positive attitude that impressed everyone she knew.
Janet was a devoted daughter who spent years looking after her aging parents. She was the epitome of a dedicated caregiver, and she gave up much of her life to assist them.
Her interests included needlecraft, jewelry making, ceramics, painting and dance.
Left to treasure her memory are her sister, Betty Kole of Columbus, Ohio and numerous cousins.
She will be deeply missed by her friends at CASI, the Red Hat Society, Hadassah, Congregation Beth Israel, Temple Emanuel and fellow dance enthusiasts. Janet loved you all.
Contributions in memory of Janet may be sent to the Jewish Federation of the Quad-Cities or the Figge Art Museum.
