Jim Rollins Obituary

Jim and Sue Rollins

James Stanley Rollins passed away November 24, 2024 and Susan Kay Rollins passed away on January 17, 2025 in Tucson, AZ.

Jim was born February 13,1930 in Kirksville, MO. He was the son of John Benjamin Rollins and Marie Irene Downing. He was proceeded in death by his first wife, Jacqueline Rollins. They had 3 children: Bonnie, Helena and Jeff.

Sue was born February 3,1939 in Emmetsburg, IA. She was the daughter of James Ausland and Francis Long Ausland. She married Gary Lockwood in 1960, divorcing in 1975. They had 2 children: Barb and Jim.

Jim and Sue were introduced to each other by Jim's sister-in-law Jean Eppard. They dated for just over a year and were married on August 4, 1984. They lived in Eldridge, Iowa for many years, moving then to Bettendorf and wintering in Tucson, AZ in 1999. Jim retired from MRC Machine Shop and Sue retired from Bettendorf High School where she was the school nurse for 25 years. They moved permanently to Tucson in 2001. Jim and Sue enjoyed 40 years of marriage together, and during that time they shared a love of Arizona, traveling, community involvement, hosting friends, Iowa Hawkeyes, reading books and their family. Jim loved playing games on his I-Pad, and Sue will be remembered as a loving and giving friend to so many people.

Sue was an excellent caregiver to Jim these past several years. They were devoted to each other and made the mutual decision to move to Via Elegante Assisted Living and Memory Care in January of 2024.

Jim and Sue are survived by their children Bonnie (Steve) Bunten, Helena Henry, Jeff (Robin) Rollins, Barb (JD Knight) Weno, and Jim (Mo) Lockwood, as well as 10 grandchildren and several great-grand children.

Jim and Sue were both cremated at Adair Funeral Home in Tucson, AZ. Memories can be posted at www.afterall.com with a search by their name. A combined celebration of life will be held in Tucson at a later date.

Sue and I have been friends since both of our first husbands were in pharmacy school together. She was a trusted, true and sympathetic friend for 60 years. She will be sorely missed.

I have many fond memories of both Jim and Sue from their time as members of Edwards Church in Davenport. They were both very kind and generous people. I am thankful for their friendship over the years, and for the many times they visited Davenport again after moving to Arizona. I send my sincere condolences to the family.
