JoAnn Mose, 94, of Erie, Ill., died Sunday, November 30, 2025, at Morningside of Sterling Senior Living, Sterling, Ill. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 5, 2025 at Gibson – Bode Funeral Home, Erie, Ill. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral Home. Burial will be in the Erie Cemetery, Erie, Ill. Memorials may be made to the Erie Public Library or Erie United Methodist Church.

JoAnn was born January 22, 1931, in Moline, Ill., the daughter of D. Kirk and Neta (Perkins) Guthrie. She graduated from Erie High School in 1949. JoAnn married Roland Mose on May 31, 1953, at the Erie Methodist Church.

JoAnn worked for Erie Lumber and Grain until 1957 when their first son, Kirk David was born. She was a stay at home mom but was involved in her community. She followed in her grandfather's footsteps, Dave Guthrie as Village Mayor for four years. Prior to that she served eight years on the Village Board. JoAnn also was active with the Erie Schools, being a room mother six times and serving on the Erie Grade School Board. In addition to her work in the community, she was the bookkeeper for Wilder Farms for a number of years and was employed by the Erie Public Library.

JoAnn was the kind of person who never met a stranger. She always had time for a visit with whomever she encountered. She enjoyed reading, cooking, baking and more recently took up playing Bingo. JoAnn was proud of her Irish roots and never missed a chance to say, "Born a Democrat, Died a Democrat".

She is survived by her son, Kyle Jon Mose, Erie; daughter, Kara (Bill) Wisdom, Erie; grandchildren, Ryan Mose (Jenny Stern), Taylor (Joe) Howard, Sidney Mose, David Mose; great grandson, Walker Howard; and brother-in-law, Wayne Bugbee, Bethany, MO.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Roland, son, Kirk; daughter-in-law, Tammy Mose; and sister, Sondra "Sandy" Bugbee.
