"Jul" Lindner, 82, a resident of Lawrence, Kansas, formerly of Davenport, will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Bettendorf. Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home in Davenport is assisting the family with arrangements.

Julius Henry Lindner was born September 17, 1938 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Julius and Edith (Lindsey) Lindner. After he graduated from high school in Ladue, MO, Jul and his twin brother Robert (Bob), joined the US Army. They served six months active duty and an additional seven years in the Active Reserves. Jul graduated from the University of Southern Illinois, where he met his first wife Lois Kay Ferguson and was married in 1961. While their marriage wouldn't last forever as they'd hoped, they raised three children, Brad, Andrew and Julie. In 1984, Jul married Judith Ann "Judy" Driessens and happily inherited three more children, Brad, Jennifer and Andrea and moved from Illinois to Iowa. Jul and Judy enjoyed 28 years of marriage and successfully blended two groups of children into one large, happy family. Judy preceded Jul in death September 18, 2012.

Jul worked in Sales for Abbott Laboratories, retiring after 30 years of service. He also worked at VGM for 10 years. Jul was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 20+ Emmaus Prayer Group, and the Knights of Columbus. He served as President of the Finance Council at Our Lady of Lourdes and was on the Illinois Lung Association Board. Jul volunteered for the Mississippi Valley Blood Center and taught Religious Education for over 20 years. In his early adult years in Peoria, IL, Jul spent most of his free time coaching and attending his children's sporting events. Later in life he enjoyed bike riding, skiing, playing golf, spending time with his grandchildren and traveling. He and Judy traveled to the Vatican in Rome in 2000 as volunteers for the Jubilee Celebration.

When Jul and Judy became grandparents, they started "Kuzin Kamp". The grandchildren stayed at their home for a week full of fun activities including Our Lady of Lourdes VBS. It was a favorite time for the grandparents and the parents, too. Even as the grandchildren grew older, Juls continued to organize spring break trips and summer water park gatherings. Jul loved his entire family and the memories he shared with them are a source of peace for those he has left behind.

Those left to honor Jul's memory include his brother, Bob (Carole) Lindner, Kimberling City, Missouri, his children: Bradley (Jackie) Lindner, Lawrence, Kansas; Andrew (Amanda) Lindner, Ketchikan, Alaska; Julie (Jeff) Darko, Mapleton, Illinois; stepchildren: Bradley (Lori) Miller, Norwalk, Iowa; Jennifer (Joe) Guthrie, Lombard, Illinois; and Andrea Johnson, Norwalk, Iowa; Fourteen wonderful grandchildren, Nicholas Guerrero and Allie Lindner, Becker and Whitman Lindner, Jenna Brown, and Ryan and Nathan Darko, Collin and Camille Miller, Grace, Joey and Hannah Guthrie and Geordie, Gabe and Allison Johnson, and his dear friend Shirley Wilkens. Jul was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Judy. Remembrances may be expressed at https://www.hmdfuneralhome.com/obituary/Julius-LindnerJr.
