Kathleen R Chan
May 9, 1948-December 15, 2022
Kathleen Barnes Chan, "KC", made her journey home to God on December 15, 2022, having dealt with multiple serious health issues these past years.
Funeral services for KC will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 1:00 pm, at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Long Grove, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband, John (2011).
KC is survived by daughters, Audrey and Melissa, and 5 grandchildren, and countless friends, including the sisters and associates of the Congregation of the Humility of Mary. She was a gifted artist and specialized in painting landscapes. She had a great eye for colors, that seemed to explode from the canvas.
A celebration of KC's life will be held in the spring.

My mother Rita Maly, lived down the street from Kathy in Chicago, Illinois. They were good friends and often went out to a landscape somewhere to capture the beauty on canvas. Kathy was an excellent artist and friend. She visited my mom often in Michigan. I have pieces in my house that I watched her paint many years ago. I still get such joy out of sitting and looking at her work. I hope she is famous in the art world because I have never seen art I like better than hers. My condolences to her daughters Audrey and Mellisa. She spoke of you girls frequently.
I´m sorry we didn´t know of her passing sooner.

I am so sorry to hear of Kathy's passing. She was so sweet. I remember when she was planning the big trip to Arizona when i was working for Toyota in Davenport. We talked about painting and all types of stuff. Fast forward 8 years later, she shows back up into my life with car issues again but this time we are in Muscatine! I met with her and she let me pick a small personal canvas for my daughter. It it small but so powerful! She was an amazing lady.
