DEWITT-Marian Grace (Mrs. Jack) Schroeder, 94, of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away early Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Wheatland Manor.
Marian was born October 8, 1927, to Emil and Grace (Dierickx) Grell in Grand Mound, Iowa. She graduated from Grand Mound High School in 1946. Marian married Jacob "Jack" Schroeder on September 3, 1949, in West Liberty. The couple resided mostly in DeWitt where they raised their seven children. Jack preceded her in death on January 3, 2020
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt, and was a den mother for Boy Scouts of America. She enjoyed playing cards, baking and spending time with family, and documenting family history.
Surviving are children, Stephen (Sonya) Schroeder of Calamus, Robert (Judi) Schroeder of Drakesville, Mark Schroeder of Westminster, Colorado, Jeff (Wendy) Schroeder of DeWitt and David (Pam Lawrence) Schroeder of Aledo, Illinois; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren; a sister, Sally Burke; nieces and nephews
Also preceding Marian in death were a daughter, Jacqueline Jo Schroeder, her parents, Emil and Grace Grell, a son, Terry "Durn" Schroeder, and siblings, Melanie (Edward) Kieffer, Marcellus (Ruth) Grell, and Jane (John) Riedesel.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 18, 2021. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 19, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Heath Schroeder, Jason Schroeder, Austin Schroeder, Brandon Schroeder, Jacob Schroeder and Miranda Yarolem. Honorary pallbearers will Alison Cassatt, Nathan Short, Ellissa Carter, Carissa Schroeder, Tracie Bernauer and Hallie Schroeder.
