Philip Hermiston Obituary
Philip John "Pete" Hermiston, age 71, passed away on May 23, 2025, surround by his loving family after his courageous battle with cancer. A celebration of life will take place at his home, located at 1035 Stone Mill Rd., Tipton, IA, on June 7th, from 4 to 8 p.m.
Philip was born in Davenport, IA, to Paul and Donnalee Hermiston, and was raised outside of New Liberty, IA, on the family farm. He graduated from Bennett high school in 1972. After high school, Phil joined the U.S. Army and served for three years. Phil and Terri were united in marriage at the Little Brown Church on August 11th, 1979, and moved to the family farm outside of Bennett, IA. To that union three beautiful children were born. Phil had a lifelong passion for farming, even in retirement, you would find him at his old stomping grounds. He was a man of many roles, besides just farming, including carpentry, driving tender trucks for liquid grow, driving grain trucks for Bennett trucking, all being the biggest fan of all his grandkids activities.
Philip is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Terri Hermiston; his children, Ryan McAlpin, Nick (Liz) Hermiston, Cora (Jason) Humphrey, and Ben (Hannah) Hermiston; his adoring grandchildren, Tristan, Hunter, Ethan, Zoie, Maci, Blair, Eli and Britley; siblings, Lynn (Hans) Jess, Carol Oakley, Trish (Wayne) Yarolem, Ann (Marty) Mente, and Lyle (Tonya) Hermiston.
He is proceeded in death by his parents; his sister, Mary; and his baby brother, Walter.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at the University of Iowa for their care and compassion.

Terri and families. So sorry for your loss. Being out of the loop of things, I was shocked to hear of this. He was a good man and enjoyed his company. My deepest condolences to you and your families.
