R. W. Mangels, 83, of Davenport, IA, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his own home on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.
A private family service will be held. He will be laid to rest in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com.
Ruben was born on December 4, 1942, the son of George Peter Mangels and Luella Rose (Ripley) Mangels. He served proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps. Ruben worked as an electrical engineer for many years. He was united in marriage to Carol (Schumaker) and they later divorced.
Ruben was a hard-working man. He was a hobby farmer for many years, which he thoroughly enjoyed. He cherished spending time with and watching his grandchildren.
Those honoring his memory include his sons, Steven Mangels and Mark (Shari) Mangels; grandchildren: Amber, April, Shawna, James, Katelyn, Brady, Ryan, Madison, and Matthew; along with 12 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Rose, John, Loretta, and George; and grandson, Brandon.

Ruben was my neighbor not just any neighbor but a great man me and my spouse always checked on him but as well as gave him his privacy I remeber when we first meet we was raking our yards and meet on the side of the house in between id often help mow his yard and pick up sticks he was a very nice neighbor and will be missed we moved last year in 2025 towards the beginging of the year he was one of two that we loved and missed in that little neighborhood .you will have missed my friend my condolences to the family .
