Travis A. Minks
May 25, 1980-March 31, 2019
LAKE CHARLES, LA-Travis A. Minks, 38, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, formerly of Moline, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 31, 2019.
Visitation is 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, April 7, at Trimble Pointe, Moline, during which time the family will greet friends in the Horizon Room in the upper level. Friends are also invited to gather at the bar in the CityView Lounge (lower level) to share memories and celebrate Travis' life. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Travis Minks Memorial Fund to be established by the family.
Travis was born May 25, 1980, in Moline, to Stanley and Denise (Roarick) Minks. He was involved in band, choir, and many musicals and plays, including Quad City Music Guild and The Barn Theater in Geneseo. Travis graduated from Moline High School in 1998. He was an accomplished welder and millwright.
He loved music, singing, acting, playing his saxophone, and taught himself to play the guitar. Travis thoroughly enjoyed family time and activities, especially with his son, Mason, whom he loved with all his heart. He delighted in watching him play baseball and soccer. With Mason being a St. Louis Cardinals' fan, they loved bantering back and forth, as Travis was a "die hard" Chicago Cubs' fan.
Travis would light up a room with his infectious smile, his warm personality, quick wit, and thoughtfulness for others. He will be greatly missed by everyone who ever knew him.
Travis leaves behind his son, Mason Minks of Rock Island; parents, Stan (Barbara) Minks, and Denise (Ted) Ronk; sister, Tracy (James McConnell) White; nieces, Avalynn and Kiera; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Chester and Beverly Minks and Ralph and Mary Roarick.
