BENNETT-Vernon O. Voss, 97, of Bennett, IA, passed away Sunday, July 25, 2021 at Courtyard Estates in Walcott.
Vernon was born in David City, NE on May 7, 1924 to Ernest and Frieda (Stellhorn) Voss.
He attended Durant High School. Vernon married Mary Lou Ketelsen on May 4, 1947 in Wilton. She preceded him in death on May 2, 2018. They farmed in Cedar County near Bennett until he retired at 90.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Wilton and a former member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bennett
He enjoyed fishing and traveling. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and working on the farm.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 1, 2021 from 2 to 5 PM at Zion Lutheran Church in Wilton. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10:30 AM at the church. Burial will take place at the Inland Cemetery in Bennett, IA.
Vernon is survived and lovingly remembered by his children: Dale (Barb) Voss of Wilton, Cliff (Maurita) Voss of Davenport and LuAnn (Tony) Wulf of Walcott; 11 grandchildren: Angela Dann, Derrin Voss, Casey Voss, Joshua (Vanessa) Voss, Tia (Ryan) McQuillen, Tessa (Kevin) Causley Clint (Briana) Voss, Lucas (Katelyn) Voss, Curtis (Monica) Wulf, Warren (Janet) Wulf and Wesley (Heidi) Wulf; 20 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, great-grandson Marcus Dann, sisters: Wilma Pearson and Norma Otto and brother Erwin Voss.
