Bill was born December 10, 1929 in Annawan, Ill., the son of John and Alma (Catour) Tacey. He married Carol Gonse on September 1, 1951 at the former St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rock Island. She preceded him in death on July 29, 2020. Bill attended grade school in rural Geneseo and always talked about riding his pony to school.

Bill graduated from the former St. Joseph High School, Rock Island. He proudly served in the US Navy Reserves. He was the owner and operator of Tacey Electric and founded the company in 1962. He was very proud that his son, Randy, grandson, Matt, and great grandsons, Tony and Maden became electricians.

Bill and Carol were charter members of St. Pius Catholic Church, Rock Island. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus, Allouez Council, and Fr. Bader Assembly 4th Degree, Rock Island, and IBEW, having just received his 75 year pin. He enjoyed golfing, traveling, and ballroom dancing with Carol.

Survivors include his daughters, Roxanne Tacey, Marcia (Paul) Terwilliger, and Dana (Jeff) Herman; son, Randy (Beth) Tacey; son-in-law, Kevin Hughes; grandchildren, Cara (Gary) Garcia, Amanda (Joe) Alongi, Erin Hughes, Emily (Bob) Hartwick, Adam (Jen) Tacey, Matthew (Megan) Terwilliger, and Julie Terwilliger; 20 great grandchildren; and 15 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Hughes, infant daughter, Teresa Mary; grandson, Joshua Tacey; sisters, Shirley Bush and Joanne Panther; and brothers, Jack Tacey and Vincent Tacey.

The family would like to give a special thanks to home caregiver, Shelly, the staff at Bickford of Moline, and Heartland Hospice for all of the love and special care.
