I only knew John on the surface level, but he was always happy, with a big smile whenever we would cross paths. I remember thinking he was a true family man, where family comes first. He will be missed , but looking forward to seeing him again up in heaven! Rest in Peace DUKE!

Our hearts are saddened to learn of the passing of John and for his wife, daughters, Marv and Diane and brothers, everyone who loved John.
My family has happy memories of John because of the time he and our son Mel, jr put into the Boy Scouts, the many meetings, campouts, awards and both earning the rank of Eagle under the leadership of Marv.
We will keep you all in our prayers.

We were saddened to read about John's passing. The picture in the paper says it all: Great love of life, great husband, great father and great friend. From the very first time we met your family, we knew you all were special. You have a love for one another that was very obvious. Words cannot convey our sympathies to you all. Just remember, John is always with you.
