Orville Sansone Obituary

Orville George Sansone, known as "Van" by his friends and family, passed away peacefully March 5, 2013, at a skilled nursing facility in San Luis Obispo. Van was born in Raritan, New Jersey, on July 2, 1922, the youngest of five siblings.
He joined the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII and, after the war, he obtained his CPA credential. Van then moved to California with his wife, Babette, who preceded Van in death in 1959.
Settling in Riverside, California, where he continued to reside for approximately twenty five years, Van was active in the community, serving as a Planning Commissioner as well as a City Councilman. During this time he built freeways throughout California as a contractor for the State.
During the early '70s Van moved to Rancho Santa Fe in San Diego County, where he retired.
Van is survived by his wife, Colleen; his five children; six grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.
His family would like to extend their appreciation to all of the caregivers who gave so much of themselves in order to afford him comfort during his last months.

I am so sorry for your loss. I cannot begin to imagine how difficult this is for you and your family and extend my condolences. Please let me know if there is anything that I can do for you.

My condolences to the family of "Van". It was, I believe, somewhere in the late 1950's or in the 1960's that I worked for "Mike's TV" on Merrill St. in Riverside, and would occasionally go to Van's home on Arlington Ave. near what is now the 91 Freeway, to service his television set. I just want to say that I always found him to be a pleasant, friendly person; a real gentleman. Each time I drive down Arlington Ave. in that area, my mind always says to me, "There's Mr. Sansone's house". May he rest in peace. Respectfully, Richard Valencia.
