Helen Boeckel Obituary
Helen was born on November 22, 1953 in Glendive to her parents, Jack and Elsie (Leach) Engle. She was raised and educated in Glendive and graduated from Dawson County High School with the class of 1972. Helen was united in marriage to Delon Boeckel on August 1, 1971 and to this union two children were born. Helen raised her family for a few years before she started her career in real estate. She started working for Henry Dion and later Nielsen Realty where she continued selling real estate for about twenty years. Later she worked at the Glendive Greenhouse for a few years and finally Kmart for seven years before she retired in 2010.
She enjoyed gardening and canning her garden harvest as well as reading and collecting antiques. She played coed softball in her younger years and she loved and cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren.
Helen's most favorite time of year was Thanksgiving, when she and Delon would open up their home and host the holiday for their large extended family. Many would travel from nearby communities, as well as from all across the country to visit. She loved cooking the feast, baking and making monster cookies with the kids, and making sure that everyone felt welcome...and stuffed.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Delon.
She is survived by her children, Jason Boeckel (April Schaffer) of Missoula, Montana and Sommer (Bill) Galfano of Minneapolis, Minnesota; eight grandchildren, Meranda Mills (Colin), Nicole Shaw (James), Alicia Kelly, Connor Boeckel, Jaden Galfano, Dalton Boeckel, Luca Galfano and Estela Galfano; three great grandchildren, Aubrey Jones, Dahlia Boeckel and Everett Shaw; two sisters, Juanita Kinney of Glendive and Toni (Jim) Peterson of Labarge, Wyoming; her beloved cat Koshka and numerous nieces and nephews.
