Dale Allen Williamson
SPEARFISH - Dale Allen Williamson, 79, passed away on January 8, 2024 in Spearfish, SD.
He was born on December 11, 1944 in Deadwood, SD, the son of Leonard "Bud" Williamson and Hilda (Korwelt) Williamson.
Dale grew up in Newell, SD on the family farm, Dale graduated from Newell High School in 1963, he then attended college at Black Hills State University and Sawyer Business College majoring in Accounting.
He enlisted in the Navy in 1965 and served on the USS Hancock Aircraft Carrier as an Aviation Storekeeper. He served during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1969.
He went on to begin his business career in institutional food sales and worked for Hunt Wesson Foods in Los Angeles and during that time met Patricia "Pat" Hull which he married. He then relocated to Clovis, CA where his daughters, Cary and Sandy were born. He then worked for Monarch Institutional Foods and Contadina Foods. He lived for a short time in San Ramon where he worked for Markstein Beverage Importers of San Francisco, CA.
In the 1990's he began running his carpet cleaning business, Gosswiller and Williamson in Fresno, CA. He spent over 30 years living in Fresno, CA before moving back to South Dakota.
Dale had a passion for wood turning by turning pens on his lathe. He enjoyed cooking, golfing, playing poker and making hooked rugs. He loved his family and close friends dearly and was known for his onery and playful nature.
Dale leaves behind his daughters: Cary Williamson and Sandra (Williamson) Jamison from CA and Megan Brunmier Marsh from ME; his grandchildren: Clayton, Dakota, Jett and Austin; his nephews: Brad Williamson (children: Simone and Juan), Brian Williamson (children: Brice and Brady); cousins: Rose Mary Miller, Douglas Nyholm, Lois Ringgaard, and Connie Weaver.
Dale was preceded in death by his brothers: Norman Williamson and Harold Williamson and his parents, Bud and Hilda Williamson.
A Celebration of Life memorial for Dale Williamson will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis, SD with a military burial with military honors at the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis immediately following. Viewing will be Thursday, January 18, 2024 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Kinkade Chapel.
