Donald Tschetter Obituary

RAPID CITY - Donald O. Tschetter, 66, Rapid City and formerly of Huron, died Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006, at an Aberdeen hospital. Don was born Jan. 22, 1940, in De Smet, S.D., the second son of Dr. Paul and Elizabeth Tschetter. They moved to Huron in 1944, where Don attended school and graduated from Huron High School in 1958. He was a member of Huron's 1958 undefeated State Championship basketball team. This was one of his fondest memories. He then continued his education at Huron College. Donald married Barbara Venables on Oct. 2, 1965. They remained in Huron until 2000, when they moved to Rapid City. While residing in Huron, Don was one of the founding Board Members of the Huron Little League. Don and his wife were members of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Rapid City and he served as a Eucharistic Minister at the church. Survivors include his wife Barb Tschetter, Rapid City, sons, Steven Tschetter and his wife Stacey, Rapid City, and Jeff Tschetter and his wife Jody, Forest Lake, MN, one daughter, Michele Thomson and her husband Mark, Kentwood, Michigan, and nine grandchildren, Lauren, Taylor, Alexis and Reilly Tschetter, of Rapid City, and Dustin and Jacob Tschetter, Forest Lake, MN, Reghan, Osta and Kenzie Thomson, Kentwood, Michigan. He is also survived by one brother, Dr. Richard Tschetter, Sioux Falls, S.D., and one sister, Diane Steinmetz, Denver, CO. He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Paul Tschetter, and his mother, Elizabeth Hansen Tschetter. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday at the Osheim-Catron Funeral Home with a Christian Wake Service at 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the Blessed Sacrament Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Blessed Sacrament Church with Rev. Dan Juelfs presiding. Interment will be at the Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may sign his online guest register and offer condolences at www.osheimcatron.com.
